The final 21-man roster for the Korean team in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will kick off on May 23 in Poland, was released on Thursday.
It includes 18-year-old Valencia midfielder Lee Kang-in and 20-year-old Bayern Munich forward Jeong Woo-yeong.
Korea aims to repeat its semifinal finish, the best it achieved to this date at the FIFA World Youth Championship, the predecessor of the U-20 World Cup, in Mexico in 1983. So far it has also reached the quarterfinals three times in the U-20 World Cup.
In the 2017 event at home, Korea did not even get beyond the round of 16.
Korea is grouped together with Argentina, Portugal and South Africa. The squad will leave for Poland on Saturday to adjust to the new environment and face Portugal on May 25.
