Daegu's annual festival famous for its "colorful" parade will be held next month. The two-day festival, which kicks off on May 4, will offer various events and programs.

On the eve of the festival, flash mobs featuring thousands of Daegu residents, as well as car parades and a K-pop concert and other music performances on an outdoor stage, will get people in the mood for the festival.

The main event of the festival, the Colorful Parade, will take place along a 2-km route through the streets of the city, gathering over 5,000 people including about 450 foreign participants from seven countries -- China, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Russia, Taiwan and Vietnam -- making it one of the biggest festivals in Asia.

Unlike last year, this year's festival will hold a competition to select the top 10 teams for a final parade on May 5, which would be the highlight of the festival. The finalists will take home prize money of W30 million (US$1=W1,134).

The festival will also provide a visual feast for visitors, with acrobatics and street performances featuring acoustic bands, magicians, jugglers, mime actors and dancers, in addition to various programs for kids to coincide with Children's Day on May 5.

Nearly 50 food trucks will serve delicious dishes for revelers.

As usual, the finale of the festival will be an electronic dance music party featuring cheerful music and spectacular dance performances.
