Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur scored two goals in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Manchester City on Wednesday to help the team reach the semifinals.
The first half of the away match was played at a frantic pace. Raheem Sterling of Manchester City opened the scoring in the fourth minute, with Son scoring the equalizer three minutes later. After another three minutes, Son controlled a pass to score again.
But it looked doomed for Spurs as Manchester succeeded in scoring three more goals after that, but Son's teammate Fernando Llorente added a goal, ending the game 4-3.
Despite the defeat, Tottenham will progress to the next round with the aggregate score at 4-4 and Spurs ahead on away goals. In the first leg last week, Spurs beat Manchester 1-0 in a home game in London. They will play Ajax Amsterdam in a semifinal.
Son now has 12 career goals in the Champions League, becoming its top-scoring Asian player. And he has scored 20 goals in all matches for Spurs so far this season.
