North Korea is preparing a military parade to mark either regime founder Kim Il-sung's birthday on April 15 or People's Army foundation day on April 25, a U.S. think tank speculates.
Victor Cha and Joseph Bermudez of the Center for Strategic and International Studies on the website Beyond Parallel on Wednesday said satellite images from last Sunday suggest that a parade is in the offing.
The imagery shows 217 vehicles gathered at Mirim Airport east of Pyongyang, which is often used for parade rehearsals, though the authors admit this is not "conclusive."

The Defense Ministry here was unable to confirm the speculation. "We have not so far detected any signs of them preparing for a military parade," a ministry spokesman told reporters Thursday.
