More people are visiting Korea's royal palaces and other cultural heritage sites.
The Cultural Heritage Foundation said on Wednesday that the number of visitors to the cultural attractions reached around 2.3 million in the first quarter of this year -- the highest figure on record and almost a 30-percent increase from last year.
It attributed the increase to the launch of year-round nighttime tours of Changgyeong Palace and the opening up of some restricted areas to the public.
The number of foreign visitors to the sites also increased by about 100,000.
