Hwang Ha-na, the granddaughter of the founder of Namyang Dairy Products and ex-girlfriend of Park Yu-chun of boy band JYJ, is suspected of bribing police to get out of a drugs charge.

Hwang was investigated for taking crystal meth in 2015 but police sent the case to the prosecutors' office without a proper investigation and recommended dropping the charges citing insufficient evidence.

The incident was recently unearthed by a weekly, which said Hwang was never summoned while she was under investigation.

An internal investigator with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said Wednesday, "Out of seven people booked on charges of drug use, only two were summoned for questioning. The cases against the rest including Hwang were sent to prosecutors with a recommendation to drop the charges."

A police source said this was highly irregular. "Sometimes cases are sent to prosecutors without police investigation if a suspect refuses to show up for questioning or a request for an arrest warrant is declined, but never with a recommendation to drop the charges," the source said.
