Lee Kang-in of Valencia CF was included in the 27-man roster for Korea's senior national football squad released on Monday.
Korea will play two friendlies this month, one against Bolivia in Ulsan on March 22 and the other against Colombia in Seoul on March 26.
The teen footballer is expected to appear in the match against Bolivia.
Lee joined Valencia's youth team in 2011, and became the youngest Korean ever to debut in a first-tier European football league in August last year.
Head coach Paulo Bento said he selected Lee to "experiment with a long-term perspective" for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, expressing his hopes to "see how he blends into the national team and how much he can grow."
Bento also called up a number of young players, mostly central midfielders, to fill the void created by the retirement from the national team of Ki Sung-yueng and Koo Ja-cheol at the end of the AFC Asian Cup early this year.
Paik Seung-ho of Girona FC in Spain's La Liga also made it into the roster for the first time.
