North Korea's food production fell to a 10-year low last year, according to a UN report released on Wednesday.
The country harvested just 4.9-5 million tons of grain in 2018, leaving 43 percent of its population in need of food aid. Despite the growing need for assistance, donations have fallen as several aid groups were forced to curtail their programs in the North due to international sanctions.
The food shortage is blamed on a lack of farmland, low agricultural production and a string of natural disasters.
