The U.S. Congress has voted that all financial support for the North Korean regime will be banned.
The 2019 federal budget, which was passed by both the House of Representatives and Senate last Thursday and signed by U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday, contains a clause prohibiting the use of American taxpayers' money to aid the North Korean regime.
The only exception is human rights-related matters.
Portions of the federal budget can be used to aid North Korean defectors hiding in China and Southeast Asia as well as to support North Korean human rights, and to maintain a database on North Korean political prison camps and fund broadcasting services for North Koreans.
