Pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday started getting ready for the upcoming season at the team's training camp in Arizona.

Ryu, who had a warm-up workout a day earlier, threw 35 pitches on the second day of spring training.

When he left for the U.S. from Korea last month, Ryu said his goal is to win 20 games this year. After finishing his first practice session, he told Korean reporters, "If I'm going to win 20 games, I absolutely cannot get hurt and must do well in the starting rotation."

Ryu won 14 games in each of the 2013 and 2014 seasons, but after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder, he had to miss the following two seasons, managing just one game. He recorded five wins in 2017 and racked up seven wins with an ERA of 1.97 in 2018, despite starting 15 games, due to a strained left groin suffered early in the season.

Meanwhile, Oh Seung–hwan of the Colorado Rockies also started throwing warm-up pitches in Scottsdale, Arizona the same day.

"My goal this season is to take the mound in as many games as I can," Oh said.
