Korea has jumped 15 places to rank 38th in the latest FIFA football world rankings released Thursday.
The improvement was largely thanks to four wins it recorded until the quarterfinals at the Asian Football Federation Asian Cup, which concluded last week.
Being a continental tournament, the Asian Cup has more weighting in the world rankings than national league matches and friendlies.
Qatar, winner of this year's Asian Cup, soared 38 notches to 55th place. Iran is the highest-placed Asian nation in 22nd, while Japan ranks 27th and Australia 42nd.
