Lee Kang-in, the youngest Korean ever to play in Spain's La Liga, has been included as a full member of Valencia CF's first team squad.
Valencia said Thursday the midfielder, who "is just 17 years old, but has already attracted plenty of attention in Spain and beyond," was moved up to first-string status and will wear the No. 16 shirt.
He had worn the No. 34 jersey, but it is customary for first-team members to wear numbers between 1 and 25.
In July last year, Lee renewed his deal with Valencia effective until June 2022. His buy-out clause of 80 million euros (W102.2 billion) reflects his high value.
Lee has no goals or assists yet but is expected to gradually get more playing time.
Valencia will play an away game against FC Barcelona, led by Lionel Messi, on Sunday.
