The mercury has dipped below zero across the country, and the cold snap expected to reach its peak during the last days of 2018.

All parts of the country except Jeju Island saw subzero temperatures on Friday morning, with -13 degrees Celsius in Seoul, -12 degrees in Daejeon, and -6 degrees in Busan.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, temperatures will stay below zero in most parts throughout the day.

The KMA said cold air is blowing in due to a cold continental anticyclone until the weekend, and the windchill factor will make it feel even colder.
