U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday said he looks forward to his next summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
"Christmas Eve briefing with my team working on North Korea -- Progress being made. Looking forward to my next summit with Chairman Kim!" Trump tweeted after being briefed by Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun on his recent visit to Seoul.
Biegun traveled to South Korea from Dec. 19 to 22 and stopped over at the border truce village of Panmunjom. He promised Washington will review a ban on Americans visiting North Korea to deliver humanitarian aid.
But North Korean state media continued to criticize the U.S. on Monday. The official Rodong Sinmun daily warned that the U.S. must "stop provocative and malicious acts" against the North and complained about the UN General Assembly adopting a resolution criticizing human rights abuses in the North.
It said the U.S. and its allies are "noisily decrying non-existent 'human rights issues'" to "widen the breadth of sanctions and pressure and raise its intensity."
