The outdoor ice rink at Seoul Plaza will open on Friday and operate for 52 days until Feb. 10 next year. The rink is expanded to become 1.5 times larger than last year at 1,897 sq.m.
A separate curling area has been built due to the increased interest in the sport after Korean women's curling team emerged as a dark horse at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Visitors will not only be able to enjoy the sport among themselves, but also get lessons if they want.
The ice rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Admission is W1,000 including skate rental. (US$1=W1,130)
"But the rink will be closed when levels of ultrafine dust particles are high due to health concerns," a city official said.
