Paulo Bento, head coach of the national football team, Monday announced the roster for upcoming friendlies in Australia later this month.
Korea will face Australia on Nov. 17 and Uzbekistan on Nov. 20. With three key players, Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur, Ki Sung-yueng of Newcastle United and Jang Hyun-soo of FC Tokyo, excluded for various reasons, Bento said he would take the opportunity to experiment with young players.
The void on the left wing created by the absence of Son is expected to be filled by Na Sang-ho. Son was able to compete in the Asian Games in August, on the premise that he will skip friendlies slated for this month.
Ki was also not included in the roster this time to take some rest along with Lee Seung-woo of Hellas Verona, while Jang was banned from the national team for life for falsifying community service activities which need to be carried out in return for exemption from mandatory military service.
Instead, the roster will see the return of some familiar faces like Koo Ja-cheol of FC Augsburg and Lee Chung-yong of VfL Bochum.
