Lee Chung-yong of VfL Bochum in Germany's second-tier league made three assists in a home match against SSV Jahn Regensburg on Tuesday, leading his team to a 3-3 draw.
The assists -- Lee's first since September 2016, when he played for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League -- could indicate a return to full fitness after several years of struggle due to injuries.
In 2011, while playing in a friendly for Bolton Wanderers against Newport County, Lee suffered a serious injury while being tackled by Tom Miller. He has struggled ever since.
After taking a break for a year, he moved to Crystal Palace but remained in a slump. Lee was overlooked for the Korean team for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but if he regains his form, he is likely to be considered for the national team again.
Korea's head coach Paulo Bento is expected to announce the roster for next month's friendlies in Australia soon.
