Novelist Shin Kyung-sook's bestseller "Please Look After Mom" will be made into a TV series in the U.S.
"We have signed a deal with U.S. production company Blue Jar Pictures. This is the first case of a Korean novel being made into an American TV series," a staffer at KL Management, Shin's agency outside of Korea, said on Tuesday.
The novel is about a mother who gets lost at a train station in Seoul and her children's attempts to find her.
More than 2.12 million copies of the book have been sold in Korea since its release in 2008 and the U.S. edition reached No. 13 on the New York Times' bestseller list in 2011. It has been translated and published in 36 countries.
