Hundreds of people continue to be killed in drunk-driving accidents each year, although the numbers of both accidents and fatalities are on the decline.

Some 2,822 people have been killed in 114,317 drunk-driving accidents in the past five years, according to data from the National Police Agency revealed last week.

The data shows that the number of drunk-driving accidents surpassed 20,000 from 2013 to 2015 before falling to 19,769 in 2016 and 19,517 in 2017, leading to drop in fatalities from 727 in 2013 to 439 in 2017.
