Some 15 percent of peeping toms who spy on people with hidden cameras know their victims.
The number of reported hidden camera crimes has nearly quadrupled over the past four years and 16,802 perpetrators have been caught, according to data from the National Police Agency revealed Wednesday.
Some 15.7 percent or 2,635 were acquainted with their victims.
Almost half of them or 1,230 were in fact the victims' lovers, followed by friends (14 percent), co-workers (11 percent) and neighbors (4 percent), while a handful were relatives who lived with their victims and employers or supervisors.
The number of perpetrators caught rose from 2,905 in 2014 to 5,437 last year. Some 97 percent were men.
