Typhoon Trami to Bypass Korea

Typhoon Trami is heading toward Japan and is not expected to affect Korea.

Trami is expected to reach Okinawa around Saturday bringing fierce winds but shift course northeast toward the Japanese mainland, the Korea Meteorological Administration said Wednesday.

Jeju Island and the Dokdo islets could still experience strong winds but no significant damage.

Trami, which is Vietnamese for a kind of rose tree, is currently heading toward Okinawa at a speed of 8 km/h. "Although its intensity has weakened, it still remains a powerful typhoon," a weatherman said.
