Users of SK Telecom's mobile service will be able to use their domestic mobile data allowance in Guam and Saipan without having to buy a roaming plan from late December, the company said Wednesday.
Guam and Saipan are among the most popular destinations for Korean tourists, with more than 1 million visiting each last year.
To promote the new service, SK Telecom will provide 1 GB of data per day for free to customers visiting Guam and Saipan from Sept. 19 until Dec. 21, when it officially launches.
SK Telecom became the second-largest shareholder in local telecommunications firm IT&E in June with an investment of W35 billion (US$1=W1,129).
