Lee Chung-yong joined VfL Bochum, after struggling in the English Premier League.

The German second-tier league said Thursday that the midfielder signed a one-year contract effective until 2019 with the option of extending another year and he will wear the No. 11 jersey for VfL Bochum.

Lee started his European career with Bolton Wanderers in 2009, and later moved to Crystal Palace. But he struggled for playing time with the club, and he was released from the team in June this year.

With his move to Bochum, Lee becomes one of five Korean footballers playing in Germany's second-tier league this season, along with Lee Jae-sung of Holstein Kiel, Hwang Hee-chan of Hamburger SV, Park Yi-young of FC St. Pauli and Seo Young-jae of MSV Duisburg.
