Players of the Korean national football team all gathered with their new manager Paulo Bento on Wednesday.
Bento asked for three things -- strict punctuality, no use of mobile phones during team meetings and mealtimes, and wearing uniform for training and off training.
Bento has been known for his strict and disciplined leadership since he managed the Portuguese national team.
"He's the most serious manager I've ever worked with. He will be very cautious in appointing the captain," said an official at the Korea Football Association. "It looks like we will have a temporary captain for the upcoming friendlies against Costa Rica on Friday and Chile next week, and then make the decision afterwards."
Bento now has an office on the second floor of the National Football Center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, which he shares with four Portuguese coaches and two Korean coaches.
Bento is spending a lot of his time memorizing the names and faces of the players stored in his mobile phone. He tries to call the players by their first names as many players share the same surnames in Korea, but it takes a lot of practice to master the pronunciation.
He will debut in his new role in a friendly against Costa Rica in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on Friday.
