Sales at duty-free shops on the resort island of Jeju hit an all-time high in the second quarter thanks mainly to the return of Chinese tourists.
According to Statistics Korea, the figures from April to June were up by around 58 percent on-year. The number of foreign visitors at Jeju International Airport also jumped by 140 percent compared to the same period last year.
The key contributing factor is the rebound in Chinese tourists, after numbers dipped amid an unofficial boycott from Beijing.
