Hyundai will cooperate with Chinese Internet search behemoth Baidu to develop connected car technologies.

In a newly signed memorandum of understanding in Beijing on Tuesday, both sides agreed to further strengthen their cooperation on next-generation car technologies including self-driving vehicles.

Hyundai has built a partnership with Baidu since 2014.

Hyundai and Baidu will work on various connected car services that provide drivers with in-car content including maps and other data through Internet access, in addition to voice recognition services based on artificial intelligence.

They also agreed to collaborate in developing Internet of Things systems that allow a driver to control home appliances from their car and vice versa.

Baidu, which is making a bold move into artificial intelligence, recently unveiled a voice-controlled robot.
