North Korea's Ro Suk-yong helps South Korea's Choi Eun-sil to her feet during a friendly basketball game in Pyongyang on Thursday.

North and South Korea will send a joint women's basketball team to the Asian Games in Indonesia next month.

Unlike the joint women's ice hockey team that competed at this year's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, sporting authorities will not allow the joint basketball squad to contain more than the usual number of members. That means some players on the South Korean national team may have to be left out.

The two sides played friendly games in Pyongyang on Thursday, which served as an opportunity to see who has potential to play on the unified team. The South Korean women's team beat the North 81-74.

South Korea's head coach Lee Moon-kyu said, "The guidelines for forming a unified team have not been finalized yet, but some North Korean players did stand out."

In the men's game, North Korea beat South Korea 82-70.
