Park Sung-hyun won the KPMG Women's PGA Championship in a playoff on Sunday.

She survived a scare on the 16th hole after her shot landed in the rough near a water hazard during the final round of the championship in Kildeer, Illinois.

Park Sung-hyun chips on the 16th hole during the final round of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship at the Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer, Illinois on Sunday. The shot was reminiscent of Pak Se-ri's barefoot shot at the U.S. Women's Open in 1998 (inset).

Park managed to dig the ball out at the water's edge and save par. Although she didn't take off her shoes, the brilliant shot reminded spectators of Korean golf pioneer Pak Se-ri's barefoot shot standing in a water hazard at the U.S. Women's Open in 1998.

Nasa Hataoka of Japan was eliminated on the first playoff hole and Park beat compatriot Ryu So-yeon with a birdie on the second.

Park, who won her first major title at the U.S. Women's Open last year, now has four wins, including two majors.
