Korea suffered another loss in the knockout stage of the World Cup in Russia on Saturday, losing to Mexico 2-1. The defeat followed its loss to Sweden last Monday.

With two losses and a goal difference of -2, Korea is at the bottom of its group, which also includes Germany and Sweden, but it still has a very slim chance of advancing to the round of 16.

Germany beat Sweden 2-1 on the same day with a free kick by Toni Kroos in the final minute of injury time, keeping its World Cup hopes alive after a surprising loss to Mexico in their first match.

Fans react as they watch a World Cup match between Korea and Mexico in Gwanghwamun, Seoul on Sunday.

Mexico leads the group with six points from two wins and a goal difference of +2. Germany and Sweden share second place with three points from one win and one loss on the same goal difference of +2.

If Korea is miraculously to advance to the next stage, it must beat Germany and hope that Mexico beats Sweden. Not even Mexico, with two wins under its belt, has secured a berth in the round of 16.

So fans of all four countries face an agonizing few days, as they must wait until the end of the first-round matches on Wednesday to learn the fate of their teams.
