Some 11.1 percent of public servants have experienced sexual harassment or assault over the last three years, a survey suggests.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family surveyed 262,000 municipal and regional public servants.
Some 18.5 percent of women said they have been sexually harassed but also 2.8 percent of men. Nine percent said they experienced verbal harassment and five percent physical harassment, 1.8 percent exhibitionism and 0.3 percent sexual assault.
In dealing with harassment, only 3.9 percent of the victims said they turned to official channels for help, while 74.5 percent said they just endured it and 19.6 percent said they talked to their co-workers.
Among the respondents who did not report the abuses, 55.6 percent said they did not want to sour the office atmosphere or were afraid of being treated like pariahs.
The survey was conducted from April 11 to May 4 of this year.
