Earlier, a court declined to issue an arrest warrant for Lee Myung-hee for assaulting and verbally abusing staff.

Prosecutors accuse Lee of hiring around 20 maids from the Philippines over the last 10 years by doctoring their travel documents to make it appear as if they were trainees at Korean Air.

The only foreigners allowed to work as maids in Korea are the foreign spouses of Korean husbands and foreign nationals of Korean descent. Hiring illegals can result in a prison term of up to three years or a maximum fine of W20 million (US$1=W1,105).
