Son Heung-min was included in ESPN's list of the top 50 players in the World Cup in Russia which opens this week. He is the only Asian player on the list at 37th.
"If [Korea has] any hope to getting out of a group with Germany, Mexico and Sweden, Son has to be decisive. He left the 2014 World Cup in tears but can be more influential this time," wrote ESPN.
Lionel Messi of Argentina topped the list, followed by Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, and Brazil's Neymar. Kevin de Bruyne of Belgium came in fourth, and Harry Kane of England came in fifth.
Among countries grouped with Korea, Germany had five players who made the list including Toni Kroos and Manuel Neuer in 11th and 25th place. No players from Mexico and Sweden were on the list.
