Campaigning has reached fever pitch with local elections just two days away. At stake is the support of some 20 to 40 percent of registered voters who are considered undecided.
The National Election Commission said Sunday that turnout in early voting conducted last Friday and Saturday stood at 20.14 percent. Although lower than the 26.06 percent turnout in early voting in the last presidential election, it was a solid result.
Ruling and opposition parties were quick to claim victory, but pundits said it is too early to forecast the outcome.
Bae Jong-chan at Research and Research said, "A large number of decided voters cast their ballots early, but swing voters have not. We'll have to see how many of them show up on election day."
