World No. 1 Park In-bee has finally claimed her first KLPGA Tour title at the 20th attempt. Park finished one hole ahead of Kim A-lim to win the Doosan Match Play Championship in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province on Sunday.

Despite her international success, Park had never won a title on the Korean tour, having finished as runner-up six times. Sunday's victory did not come easily, either, as Park and Kim played out a nail-biting match.

"It feels like I've finally completed a homework assignment that I'd been putting off," Park said. Her 25 titles include 19 on the U.S. LPGA Tour (including seven majors), four in Japan, one in Europe and one in Korea.

"Now I leave with a great boost to my self-confidence for the U.S. Women's Open, which kicks off next week," said Park, who won W175 million in prize money and an excavator worth W35 million (US$1=W1,080). "This is a special present. I will make good use of it on my grandfather's farm," she said.
