Korea placed 27th out of 32 participating countries in the upcoming World Cup in Russia next month, according to a ranking released by Yahoo Sports on Tuesday.
This puts Korea last among the countries grouped with Germany (1st), Mexico (11th) and Sweden (20th).
Japan was 26th, the highest of any Asian nation. Iran (28th), Australia (29th) and Saudi Arabia (32nd), among others, were placed behind Korea.
"With nine straight World Cup trips, [Korea had] the fourth-longest active streak behind only Brazil, Germany, Argentina and Spain," it said.
"They've advanced from group play just twice during that span, however, and will be hard-pressed to emerge from one of the most fearsome foursomes in Russia, even with dynamic Tottenham striker Son Heung-min as a legit scoring threat up top."
