Cross-country skier Magnus Kim will represent Norway in international competitions from the 2018-2019 season after playing for Korea at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Kim, who still holds dual citizenship as he was born to a Norwegian father and Korean mother, chose to play for his mother's country in 2015 to earn a ticket to the Olympics.
After winning a gold medal at the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan, he was expected to win a first medal in the discipline for Korea but did not live up to expectations and lingered between 40th and 50th place.
After the disappointing performance, Kim reportedly decided to sharpen his skills in Norway, a cross-country powerhouse.
It is unlikely that he will compete under the Korean flag in the future but he pledged to invite promising Korean cross-country skiers to Norway for training.
