An Asiana Airlines aircraft collided with a Turkish jet on the runway at Atatürk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey on Sunday. The accident caused a brief fire on the Turkish plane but no one was injured.

Asiana flight OZ552 bound for Seoul was preparing to take off at 5:30 p.m. when its right wing hit the other plane's tail fin, snapping it off and causing a fire in the rear section of the Turkish plane. The fire was soon brought under control by fire fighters.

Asiana said no casualties were reported among the 222 passengers on board its aircraft. The flight was canceled, however, stranding most of the passengers for a day. Those who were unable to find tickets for alternate flights were put up in a nearby hotel for the night.
