Kia released a newly modified version of its Sportage compact SUV in China on Wednesday.

The Chinese version of the SUV has a slightly bolder body and offers voice-assisted navigation providing real-time traffic information in collaboration with Chinese Internet company Baidu. It is also equipped with high-tech safety features.

Kia, which is trying to make up ground in the market there, aims to attract young Chinese customers in their 20s and 30s.

The automaker was hit hard by China's unofficial boycott of Korean products last year and is still struggling to recover from sluggish sales. It sold only 97,500 cars last month, sharply down from 150,591 cars in the same period in 2016.
