Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles Dodgers earned his first win of the season, leading to his team's victory over the Oakland Athletics at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Ryu shut out the Athletics in six scoreless innings while yielding only one hit.
This is his second game pitching scoreless and giving up only one hit across more than six innings throughout his 84 appearances in Major League Baseball.
Chris Taylor and Corey Seager hit back-to-back homers to seal the Dodgers’ 4-0 victory.
Ryu bounced back from a shaky season debut last week when he allowed five hits and three runs in three 2/3 innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
"I felt better coming into today’s game," Ryu said. "I used to rely more on my changeup, but tonight I utilized all of the other pitches I have."
His manager was equally impressed.
"This was as good as it gets," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "He obviously had command of all his pitches. He was in control all night."
