Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles Dodgers has begun the season with a shaky start. He started against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix on Monday, giving up five hits, five walks and three runs while striking two in three 2/3 innings.
The Dodgers took an early lead with three runs in the top of the first inning, with Yasmani Grandal's two-run homer.
Ryu was pulled out of the game in the fourth inning after he gave up a third run with an elevated pitch count. He threw 75 pitches, of which 40 were strikes.
The Diamondbacks eventually won the game 8-7 in the 15th inning.
Kim Byung-hyun, who won the World Series with the Diamondbacks as a closer in 2001, threw the ceremonial first pitch at the game.
