The sentencing of ex-President Park Geun-hye on Friday will be broadcast live against her wishes, the Seoul Central District Court decided on Tuesday.
On Monday Park replied to the court's request for her opinion in a written statement that she does not consent to the broadcast.
But a court spokesman said that it is in the public interest.
In July last year, the Supreme Court revised rules to permit live broadcasts of sentencing trials in lower courts with the approval of the defendants.
In cases of great public interest, a judge can override the defendant's refusal. The court did not allow the sentencing of Samsung chief Lee Jae-yong and Park's confidante Choi Soon-sil to be broadcast when both refused.
