Ex-South Chungcheong Province Governor An Hee-jung on Friday admitted that he had sex with his secretary but denied forcing her.

An presented himself voluntarily at the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office on Friday afternoon. His lawyer told the Chosun Ilbo on Sunday, "He delivered truthful testimony and will faithfully cooperate with the investigation."

His secretary Kim Ji-eun alleges that he raped her four times on business trips abroad and sexually harassed her numerous times.

Former South Chungcheong Province Governor An Hee-jung appears at the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office in Seoul on Friday.

An was questioned for some nine-and-a-half hours. After emerging from the prosecutors' office on Saturday morning, he told reporters Kim "was a member of my staff who supported me and worked hard. I am sorry. I apologize for the sense of loss and betrayal."

Prosecutors plan to question him again.

Kim has now filed charges against An and was questioned by prosecutors on Friday morning. She told prosecutors that she said no but was unable to resist him forcefully since he was her superior.

Prosecutors also questioned people close to An and Kim to discover whether force was involved and are scrutinizing records of their business trips to Russia and Switzerland.

A second woman who worked for a political think tank An set up has since also come forward to accuse him of raping and sexually harassed her repeatedly since October 2015. She plans to file charges this week.
