The government aims to attract more than US$20 billion in foreign direct investment this year. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy set the goal at a meeting on Sunday.
Korea has attracted $20 billion in FDI for the last three years.
The ministry wants to create some 10,000 jobs through FDI. It plans to reform economic zones and step up deregulation while promoting cutting-edge industries such as biotech, semiconductor and rechargeable battery manufacturing.
