Actress Baek Jin-hee recently appeared in a romantic comedy for the first time since her debut about 10 years ago.
In the TV series "Jugglers," which wrapped up in late January, she nailed the role of a secretary with great interpersonal skills who eventually falls in love with her reclusive boss.
"I was eager to appear in a romantic comedy for a long time, as I have mostly played dark and somewhat serious characters, often with complicated backgrounds," Baek said. "I've had an ordinary life without many ups and downs, so I had difficulty relating to such characters. But in the latest series, I had many things in common with the character. I just needed to bring out what was already inside me. So it was a lot of fun."
Looking back on her career, is she content? "I would say I have worked hard, rather than saying I'm satisfied with it. I think I've come this far through hard work," Baek said.
As for what roles or genres she wants to do next, she said, "I think I'm more suited to something bright and funny that gives positive energy to viewers," Baek said.
When asked what she plans to do this year, she said, "I just want to do some traveling and volunteer activities, and I'd like to start on a new project soon without taking a long break," she said.
