Korea added two more silver medals in women's curling and men's four-man bobsleigh on the last day of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on Sunday. They were Korea's first Olympic medals in the disciplines.
Sweden beat Korea 8-3 in the final, but it was the best-ever result in the sport for Korea, which achieved the feat in its second Olympic curling appearance after the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Korea's women curlers have become the biggest stars during the Olympics. Nicknamed the "garlic girls" as all four of the main players come from Uiseong, North Gyeongsang Province, famous for its garlic farming, they started curling as a hobby, helping their families with farming while training.
Despite many difficulties being in an unpopular sport, they drew sudden attention to the sport thanks to their unexpected stellar performance and spawned many new curling fans.
Meanwhile, Korea also won the silver medal in four-man bobsleigh, tying with the second German team piloted by Nico Walther with an overall time of 3:16.38 after four runs. Another German sled led by Francesco Friedrich won the gold medal with a time of 3:15.85.
The team consisting of Jun Jung-lin, Kim Dong-hyun, Seo Young-woo and Won Yun-jong, ranked 50th in the world, became the first Asian team to win an Olympic medal in the sport.
