Mogul skiing medal hope Choi Jae-woo failed to reach the third final of the men's event at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on Monday.

Choi couldn't finish his race in the second final as he stumbled and fell after performing his second cork-720. The double 360-degree aerial rotation is regarded as his trademark, but he fell while landing.

A total of 30 skiers participated in the men's moguls event. The top 10 players in the first qualification round automatically qualify for the finals, while the others compete for the 10 remaining places in the second qualification round. The 20 qualifiers compete in the first final for the top 12, six of whom are eliminated in the second final. The top six then compete for medals in the third or "super" final.

Choi reached the finals by finishing first in the second qualification round with 81.23 points and advanced to the second final ranked 10th.

Choi is currently No. 4 in the International Ski Federation World Cup rankings and fans had pinned their hopes of Korea's first Olympic medal in the snow sport on him.
