Korea beat Moldova 1-0 in a friendly match in Antalya, Turkey on Saturday.

Striker Kim Shin-wook's header in the 68th minute sealed the victory, but the 1-0 result was less than satisfactory given Moldova's low world ranking at No. 166. Korea is ranked No. 59.

"I tested new players (in preparation for the upcoming World Cup in Russia). I wanted to check their overall level of fitness," manager Shin Tae-yong said after the friendly.

For their ongoing pre-World Cup training in Turkey, Shin called up 24 footballers playing in either Korea or Asia, excluding those playing in European leagues. The 24 are competing fiercely for places in the final squad.

Korea will face Jamaica in its second friendly on Tuesday.
