British military officers recently have visited South Korea twice to draft rescue plans for British citizens in case a war breaks out with North Korea, the Sunday Times reported.

The officers spent two weeks here last October and another 10 days this month, visiting the Demilitarized Zone and meeting U.S. army officers.

Based on the information they collected, they are devising an evacuation plan for some 8,000 British civilians in South Korea.

"British military sources are growing increasingly concerned that U.S. President Donald Trump could launch pre-emptive strikes to destroy Kim Jong-un's nuclear ballistic missile program," the weekly said.

Around 100,000 British people visit South Korea every year and 8,000 live here, presenting a considerable logistical challenge.
