Short track speed skater Shim Suk-hee went AWOL for two days after she was allegedly assaulted by her coach, the Korea Skating Union said on Thursday.
Shim, who won three medals at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, is one of the top favorites for the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang next month.
"Shim stormed out of the training venue after she was allegedly assaulted by her coach," a KSU official said. "But she returned after two days and attended the training session on Thursday," the official added.
The KSU suspended the coach after being informed of the incident. "It seems they had some dispute over Shim's recent slump as the Olympics is less than a month away," the KSU official said.
