Big Chill to Grip Korea

      The coldest temperatures so far this winter will grip the entire country on Thursday and Friday, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.

      Morning lows in Seoul dropped to -13 degrees Celsius on Thursday, five degrees lower than the previous day, and are expected to to reach -15 degrees on Friday.

      The wind chill effect will bring down temperatures below -20 degrees. Daytimes highs will hover at -7 degrees on Thursday and -6 degrees on Friday.

      The KMA said that the cold snap is the most biting weather in early January since 2013.

      "Temperatures will return to normal on Saturday," the KMA forecast.
